This is a great Whidbey Telecom feature that allows you to create custom e-mail addresses. It’s easy to set up, and really handy. Here’s how you use our Personal Domain feature:
- Create some aliases – other e-mail identities you want to use:
You can pick up to 20 names, which will go in front of the @ symbol of your new addresses. They can be anything, from "adam" to "zebra".
- Choose a domain:
Then you create a unique domain. It appears after the @ symbol, such as:
adam@islandsun.whidbey.net
zebra@roadwarrior.camano.net
ebay@beaches.pointbob.net
- Circulate your Personal Domain info:
Once you've created your Personal Domain addresses, just tell people about them. E-mail sent to your new addresses is into your regular mailbox.
It’s as easy as that. There's nothing to configure in your e-mail program, unless you want to change the "From:" part of e-mail you send. Your main address will continue to work.
This is one great way to stop spam. For example, you could create an address for each online store or community you visit, such as:
ebay@mydomain.whidbey.net
If you begin receiving spam at that address, you can delete the address without affecting others. You would also know where spammers got your address!
