Remembering a legend.
In fond memory of Barney Mills.
We are saddened to share the news that our long-term co-worker, Barney Mills, passed away.
Barney joined Whidbey Telecom in 1990 as a Construction Lineman. He held several roles at the company as a leader in Outside Plant Construction and Facilities. He was a customer favorite and for years it was Barney who braved the storms to get the generators out to support our customers during outages. He was tour guide for Senator Maria Cantwell, our grandmaster at every parade, our chef at every company picnic, and always, our friend.
He will be greatly missed.

“Legend. His quick smile said it all. You will be missed, Barney.”

“I’d like to share that my dad truly loved his job and the people he worked with. His work gave our family stability and purpose, and he valued the relationships he built with coworkers, customers, and the community. Thank you for remembering him and being part of his life.”

“Barney was always available to flip burgers for an employee event or deliver employees to work and back home on icy road days.”
“I’ve enjoyed a friendship with Barney for many years. Every business interaction with him was good and he’s the one I called when I had questions about anything related to Whidbey Tel. I didn’t know about his cancer and I’m sorry to get this news. My condolences to his family and to his Whidbey Tel family.”

“Barney was a great company ambassador and safety advocate.”

“Barney was a wonderful brother. He was always there for me, whether it was to egg me on or having my back as he did a lot. He was always smiling and always in a good mood. Everyone was better when he was around. I shall miss him for the rest of my life.”
