Outage Alerts
– Intermittent Telephony Issue

Thursday, March 26, 2020, 7 PM – Cellular and some long-distance traffic to and from Whidbey Telecom customers in Point Roberts and South Whidbey are currently experiencing intermittent issues with calls dropping and some calls not able to complete the connection. Verizon cellular customers appear to be the most impacted. Engineering has established the root cause and is in the process of routing traffic away from the overloaded microwave radio tower. A crew has been dispatched to replace the equipment that is at fault. Local calling and 911 service is not impacted.

01/11/20 11:37 PM – Telephone & Internet Outage Point Roberts

RESOLVED. Point Roberts connectivity has been restored, and voice and internet services are stable. A fiber tunnel had been cut, severing the cables for multiple providers across Western Washington, and causing a widespread outage.

01/09/20 7:27 PM – Frontier Telephone Outage

RESOLVED. Frontier sustained heavy damage to one of their cables, impacting some cellular users and Whidbey Telecom telephone Long Distance customers.

01/30/20 5:00 PM – Network Maintenance in Possession Point

Network maintenance scheduled for the Possession Point area on January 30th from 9:00 am to approximately 3:00 pm. Services could potentially be affected during this time. If you have any questions, please contact Tech Support at 360-321-8324.

11/25/19 5:31 PM – Telephone Outage

RESOLVED. A small group of South Whidbey telephone customers may have experienced an “All Circuits Busy” message when trying to make a call outside of the Whidbey Telecom network. This outage was part of a large Frontier/Comcast North Whidbey issue and is outside of Whidbey Telecom control.

09/19/19 7:00 AM – Past Alert

Resolved : A Fiber equipment failure is impacting a small number of customers.  Customers are being migrated over to other equipment and downtime is expected to be limited.
